When you guys go for SH when it warms more count me in. I just know of the coconut creek/margate population ,coral springs has quite a few peacocks too.

been to coral springs recently...good population of SH but the pbass population took a bad hit...nave not seen one this year...

no mayan cichlids either and last year they were everywhere...:(

saltwater fishing doesn't seem to be getting much love on this thread lol why don't you guys head down to the keys? yeah it's a much farther drive but it is TOTALLY worth it

So far this season I have caught Midas (RD really), Pbass, Oscars, Jags, Butikoferi, Jewels, Black Acara, Mayans, and maybe some other I forget.

They are not all in the same places though. Different canals and lakes in Miami-Dade county (along with all the natives)
SH are primarily up in Broward county, I caught a couple near Tamarac last month.

Really....Butikoferi in Florida? That's new to me. Thought they have blue/spotted tilapia only..

There are places to catch them, you just have to know where.
Shamefully that there are no guide books for fishing exotics in Florida. Seems that exotic fishing getting popular these days so who knows that we might have a new guide book coming out soon.;)

well I dont think I can make it down to Maimi which sucks, I would love to get out there again. However if any of you go fishing in the tampa or near by areas feel free to hit me up... Fridays are usually best with a notice. =]
