Here ya go, "Takifugu obscurus, a close relative to T. ocellatus, but significantly bigger and heavier. Up to 40 cm and more than 10times more biomass than T. ocellatus." This fish belongs in SW.

More info on this species from TPF:

From reading that 1st link, says they tolerate FW but doesn't seem for very long, nor would I suggest keeping one in FW indefinitely.

PP already went through the trouble of getting an ID for you... now the only thing is to get it into the right conditions...

you bet...;)
as u said...what i need to do is juz to fatten it...:)
d purpose i upload d photos is juz to update its condition...
by d way...how to sexing this monster...
should i add some sand into d tank...

I'm sure PP will correct me if i'm wrong, but as far as i know there is no way to sex this puffer just based on its looks, you'd have to do an autopsy to find its true sex...

As for a substrate, i would definitely add something to the tank... substrate, decorations etc... btw, are you starting to acclimate it slowly back to saltwater or is it still in complete freshwater???

Yes, these puffers like to burrow in the sand. No way to sex, as far as I know but if you had posted about this on my forum, I'm sure the puffer expert there who IDed your puffer could give you more info than myself. That's why I have Mentors there, they can give out give out better info than I can.
