SA River. Grow outs.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Pardon my ignorance but wouldn't a gar or two be at home in that? :)
Actually consider then but this tank is too small and I’d like to keep the fish all SA.

As always, nicely scaped tank.

Gar will look good to take up the upper water, but won’t be true to the biostope. How about a silver arrowana or a group of pink tail chalceus. Your new tank is big enough. What size is it?

You mentioned just moved across the country. Are you no longer in PA?
Thanks Andrew. I moved back to SoCal. I just set this up. It’s a 280 with 80x34x24 dimensions.

The tank would be too small for a Arowana. I’m researching top water that would work with this tank. Chalceus would have to be full grown to escape the attention of the bass. Can’t find any larger than six inches which is the minimum size since the intermedia should hit 12” this year while the chalceus will barely grow.

Plants added. The swords are overpowering this display. All good. They’ll go into the 535 when it’s ready and I’ll replace these on here with a smaller species or with jungle val.

So what does it take for them to get that big? Good lighting?
This was grown emersed as you can tell from the lead shape. The best way to grow a sword like this submerged is through heavy co2 and feet’s or simply taking time. They don’t need ferts and co2 if you are patient.
