Bought PFS.

May get a bag of petco's black stuff to pepper it later.

Read too much online to feel secure using the grit.

I went with PFS for our local Ace after doing extensive research about 2 yrs ago now?.. and lost most my stock that night and the following day after rinseing the ever living heck out of it... ect.. I stick with red flint gravel... i buy it for our local LFS in 50# bags for like 20$....have never had an issue with any of their grades but i prefer the second to smallest available.. its like a rough sand.. My rays and spiney eels love it. Its a darker "natural" sand.

don't have many full tank shots but this should give you an idea. imo it really brings out natural colors.

I havr pfs in all of my tanks including a 220... I like it a lot unfortunatly its really white at fisht... It does darken up woth age and stuff but it looks really nice...my fiah love it. The one thing u have to worry about is of u get to fine of sand it will compact. Thats why i dnt like play samd... But pfs i have never had a problem gettinh in my filters or anything

I used to use that fine gravel as well, unfortunately there are no LFS's within an hour of my location, Fosters & Smith does not carry any gravel worth buying IMO, and petblow is really expensive. So PFS it was.

Thanks guys...sand I got was really clean, claimed to be all natural and non toxic. It didnt need to be washed, but I did anyways. Great stuff, super white. Pretty fine, but doesnt seem to be moving around. I have air stones and heater running, no eheim on it yet but soon...just put a bunch of guppies in to start the cycle...will be great feeders for my grow out cichlids/Hoplias malabaricus.

Not sure now if I will add the other stuff...we are many h2o changes away from adding any serious stock.

Sorry for the lousy cell phone pics.

You get the idea though.

Like I said. It claims its quartz, all natural, and toxin free.

Couldnt get it to mix up in bucket and was not cloudy at all.

Looks really good especially in contrast with those river stones...

Dont worry - got another piece of wood coming, and the others are just on the bottom because I am sinking them there.

The LED's are nice as well - think I am going to try for anubias and java fern on the pieces of wood. Maybe a water lettuce floater.
