Unfortunately, there will be no refund on USPS part because it was shipped illegally. They do not allow live animals nor any type of liquids in their shipments.

How would it be illegally? the USPS know it's a fish in the box and it write on it "FISH" and also the box said live tropical fish..

Yeah last time I checked fish/water in a box with USPS is perfectly fine.. They even had to check their list one time for me to make sure they could send fish/water, and yep it was allowed.

^as i understand it, its not illegal, but at the time of shipping it has to first be declared and inspected as "live animal".

Anyone shipping live animals must call the District Expedited Services Office (ESO), which coordinates and clears such shipments. The ESO will tell you where to drop off your “live” shipment and notify the accepting office.

The availability of a drop-off site may vary depending on transportation or the retail site’s ability to handle large volumes. The ESO tries to make acceptance points for live animal shipments widely available and ensure protection of the lives while in the postal system.

With the September 25, 2006 inception of live animal mail transport on the FedEx Network, the number of retail outlets available for live animal acceptance increased significantly. Transportation on commercial carriers continues to be available. For more FedEx networ

not sure how insurance coverage works, but it maybe a hiccup. either way, keep us posted.......

No shipping companies will incure live animals, they will accept live fish, but not incured them. You would've had a better chance getting your money back in a lost package than damage or dead fish.

Even then, if they know it contain live fish, the insurance value is out of the door.

I am sorry for your loss, did you get them from GA ?

I spoke with the UPSP manager we are working on it. I told them Im not taking no for answer on this. Well worth over $700 atleast get all or some portion of my money back.

If you don't insured live fish or animal why offer it in the first place? plus they know it's live fish in there, and abviously the box have "live tropical fish" all over.
