I would say saltwater has the craziest monsters sizewise etc. , but if you are talking about monsters kept in the home aquarium then I prefer freshwater , it seems that freshwater almost gives you a bigger selection of fish because most of them are easier to keep and usually seem to do better in the home than salt,............??????

Freshwater Monsters are so much more "aquarium" friendly than salt. But Saltwater definately has some awsome monsters!
I think fresh water is the way to go . I mean not only is a little cheaper but the fish are awesome our albino angel is starting to look like the snakeskin discus it's actually kinda cool.
