really? I like mantis too, but my passion for small cowfish like the camel cowfish has grew stronger.
Believe it or not, people are entitled to their own opinions-these may or may not differ from yours. I agree that many freshwater fish can EASILY rival the looks of many saltwater fish. No reason to freak out about it. I would personally much rather keep freshwater fish any day of the week, but it doesn't bother me at all that some people only like saltwater

okay, i said sorry already for freaking out, personal decisions.

saltwater tanks are actually pretty easy, especially if you only want the fish. the intial investment is higher but if you dont over stock you can pretty much do water changes few and far.

to do saltwater fish only all you need is really saltmix. and a heater if you dont have one

but I recommend that you get a protein skimmer as it will make life alot easier, it basically pulls fish waste right out of the water column for easy removal. and will reduce the amount of water changes alot. i recommend a octopus hob

if you want corals your cost will probably double as the lighting usually cost the same as the skimmer, and youd need more test kits.

also you could get argonite sand if you want it better then crushed coral if you dont gravel vac alot.

GO SALTWATER more impressive then Fresh a little bit more pricey but well worth the time and investment.

WITH YOU HOMMIE! If you use fake coral - saves enviroment :), much cheaper and sometimes better.

there are freshwater fish that look just as good as saltwater fish, but i would say theres probably less freshwater fish comparable to salt fish if you go by color alone. but ive kinda started to like the scale and body types of certain cyprinids, more then the vivid colors.

hey cheetah, snowflake eel - $14-20, need 30 gallon plus, Camel cowfish - $20-30 need 24 gallon plus. Sharpnose puffer $14-20, need 30 gallon plus, dwarf or fuzzy lionfish, $15-25, need 30 gallon plus. BTW, filtration is simple. You can even do without protien skimmer, just more water changes.
Ooooh, did Petco give you this information?:screwy: Lol... Because snowflake eels grow 2 feet long.:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

just like FW fire eels and Tire track eels only get 2' in captivity.. unlike in the wild over 3'?... :grinno: .. snowflakes get stunted all the time, you can stunt a SW fish as easy or easier imo as a FW one. Have to agree w/ the Mantis shrimp though... those things are wicked evil, and wicked cool looking. totally...

heck, you aren't a marine biologist, so you can't fight against correct data given by them - not petco, but californian biologists.
