How could a 72x18x21 not be enough?I can understand,if I had them all cramped into a 55 gallon or even a 75 gallon fish tank.Majority of the fishes I own,wont even go pass 7 inches mark.The only ones I see going from 8 inches or more is my Jack Dempsey and Tiger Oscar really.Also maybe the Green Terror,but I can't tell if its a female or male yet.

I think this is a bit extreme, though not impossible. If you picked up a male salvini, then I'd say yea, some of the others may be in trouble. Possibly even the oscar. I've seen some pretty big bulky males. If you have a female salvini, then I think you'll be ok.
ya im in ill too an i got both of my sal's for $7. central illinois hit me up if ya wanna know my lfs can order just about any cichlid but hardly does since ppl have to ask for them.
You guys make it sound like I have guppies in my tank,where the salvini can tear everyone apart sorry,but the Salvini is learning who it can go up against and can't.It may of challenged the Black Convict and my Green Terror,but they wont sit around taking a beating from a Salvini.

Since you have brought up some maybe in trouble,including my Oscar,I will have to disagree with you on that part.My Oscar already took on a Jaguar like nothing,when I had one still.The size difference was only by 2 inches with the both of them.I watch my fishes everyday to observe who can hold their ground and who can't.

You've only had your salvini for a few days. Give it a year or so for the Sal to bulk up and get comfortable. I'd be willing to bet it climbs the totem pole. Like I said, if you have a female she won't get as large and won't be as boistrous. If you have a male, then be careful. They are completely capable of killing other tank mates.
I am not getting defensive,what kills me the most about half the people on here,claiming Oscars are not aggressive or this or that.Just cause people have had bad luck with Oscars in the past,doesn't mean all are like that,so I don't get where you think its a fact that Oscars are really not aggressive,you may of owned some in the past that were not aggressive at all,but I have one that will stand up for himself either way.Its a HIT OR A MISS with any fish introduce into the tank regardless.
When people give their opinions on the behaviors of certain cichlids, it's generally the most common behaviors that they are referring to based on the consensus of many others that have kept and/or studied them. Every species has a behavior that the majority of their kind will exhibit. But like everything else, there will always be exceptions. Bottom line is if you want to try a certain mix of Cichlids, feel free to do it. Many times stocks that look terrible in theory end up working quite well in reality. There are still some cichlids that I would not put together for various reasons and I wouldn't suggest those choices to others. No one has control over your tank. In the end it is you that will have to deal with what ever becomes of your stocking decisions. I believe that members generally mean well when they give advice. It's up to each individual to do as they will with the information. Good luck with your decision.
