You might want to put in some Stresscoat or other slime coat enhancer, they're going to end up sloughing off their slime coat to get rid of that stuff.

I agree with the using the pool filter sand, only had to rinse mine 4-5 times before using it. Also, the sand I got isn't light enough to be sucked up all the way by a python.

I hate all sand. It looks like crap, it WILL end up in your filters (fish kick it up), and it always has fish crap on it. At least with gravel, poop falls down between the cracks.
