A lazy ray keeper then lol

How anyone can say bare looks better I will never understand

I too do not believe the rays will like it as much / sand more natural, I also think that Tigs should have space to hide but have no experience to comment?

I guess it is a case of "one mans meat is another mans poison" - after all some men find Katie Price / Jordan attractive????

cant stand the woman! my wife idolises her and it irritates me!!! - even had her lady lumps enlarged the same size. i suppose every negative has a positive lol!:naughty:

I like the way the sand looks, but i'm having the same problem with the sand as most of you .. Its getting stuck in my power heads and filter. I'm just gonna have to move the intake higher up.

I was mostly concerned because someone who owns a fish store told me that they choke on the sand. If the sand doesnt effect thier health at all, then sand it is!

if you dont have sand, then you are missing out on alot of intersting and natural behavior

Sand also gets ammonia gas pockets in it, and could spike ur ammonia levels if it releases into the tank... that happened to me, so im bare bottom right now... getting rdy to tile tho

bare tanks look terrible. Tile is a good compromise, if you can find a suitable type.

Whatever. 50% weekly water changes does not equate to being lazy. Having to vacuum clean the sand would add considerable time to that endeavor. And the substrate look (or lack thereof) is a personal preference. You sound more like an American vs. a Brit with those comments. Maybe you belong over here across the pond. :)

I went bare bottomed for a minimalistic look. Plus the less you put in the tank the easier it is to see your stock. I'm lazy, that's why I keep it bare bottomed, very easy to clean and to identify waste.

I can't understand how people say it's easy to keep clean
With bare you have a extra bit of glass to keep free from Alge and if your tank is the right size for rays that bit of glass will be massive

As for amonia pockets in the sand yes that can happen in a non ray tank with very deep sand but in a ray tank you should have no more than 1 inch of sand which the rays should be turning over ever 6-12 hours
