Sand: play or pool filter?

pool sand will be better.. play sand sometime come too fine..

Yeah do the pool sand if these are your choices. The moon sand is great but for cost, you can't beat pool sand. Heavier than the play sand as well!

ya pool sand for sure i have used it in many tanks
i also have used black moon sand and do not like how light it is

i will be switching my substrate soon and i am alslo interested in pool sand. the only problem i have is the color. i just dont know how it will look. here is a pic of my tank, anyone that has pool sand please let me know how it would look. i just want my tank to look as natural as possible. also can you grow plants in pool sand? thanks

Sweet, I had given up on this thread and now its up to 2 pages. Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll check into the availability of color quartz in my area just because I really like darker substrates but if all else fails I'll do pool filter sand.

PFS is a little heavier also, which keeps it out of the water column.

either works fine. as other have said pool filter sand is heavier and cleaner. i've had polys in tanks with either. play sand is quite dirty and requires alot of cleaning. i used it b/c home depot didnt have PFS when i went that time
