What kind of naturalish brown/black sand are you guys using these days?

Looks like that would be a bit difficult to get over here in the US.

Any links to this silver river sand? Quick google search yielded nothing...

I always used sand from the river or a stream. usually multi grained size and looks great. if you could get near a volcanic area get the basalt sand from a lake, would look sharp

I live in Ohio and we don't really have much water around that isn't extremely silty.... Or Mercury poisoned. I would rather stick to store bought.

#12 silver sand is just quartz based sand.
The number is the grain size. Any masonary supply will know what silver sand is. Pool filter sand is also rated in grain size and any pool supply will have that.

You can special order it but it isn't necessary. Find a brick and rock supply and ask for the stuff....they usually have tons and tons of rocks, bricks, gravel, paving stones, raw granit and marble...and sand. Sand by the bucket or by the bag.

Anyone ever hear of black bull glass bead? I can get it from home depot and I can't imagine that any sort of glass bead would be harmful as long as it is washed well?
