I know jars are lot harder than silver aro's , my silver died after jumping out couldn't save him , my jars been on floor few times either smashing through lid or jumping out while upgrading tank , the last time he did it it took an hour to revive him he was last breath drying up on floor when I walked in , panic wasn't the word lots of swearing involved
 
soz for no response i have been at work experiance for 10hrs a day and am so tired any way the tank just cracked i was watching tv and bang so i put the water in a 80galon pond and got a new 150 for 80 bucks off gumtree and there all appy and feeding again so that was a big scare
 
All good mate lucky escape there , how's your house wrecked ?
 
its fine cause the tank is about 2 m away from garage and is on a slate so easy to clean well not really it was a mess but all good now
 
if mine goes it'll be new carpet time (I pray that day will never come) , im thinking of doing a plywood tank next upgrade , or raised pond with clear panel ,all depends if I end up with a garage next time I move house not much space at the min so im stuck for now
 
I've always wanted to put a clear panel on a polyethylene pond but something tells me cutting a window hole in a prefabricated pond would ruin its structural integrity. So I imagine a lot of bracing would be necessary. Would love to see the way people go about this.
 
I've thought about this myself Steve , there not that sturdy though had s look st one ny lfs had that cracked pretty easy on one of the curves , build ones best option I reckon (you can only shout at yourself if it goes then lol)
 
tried it the pond i had my fish in i cut a 1x1ft box out and put 10mm glass in
 
it leaked at first so i put more scilicon over it and worked liked a charm
 
fish are starting to beef up and well bulk up
