If your lucky Steve you mite end up with a couple of jags that hold there own against him , mine managed to do this he still gets chased even now but defends his pipe till the death

weeeeellllll steve has a story of my jar hes nice as he now and i hope im lucky since i amd going with a predatory communtiy tank

I hope so too mate its a bloody nightmare if not , just keep doing the separation thing if he plays up seemed to work when you tried it last time

it always works its fish prison if your mean i take away your rights for a week

Sounds like your jars gona be like mine Steve welcome to my world ( of loosing lots of fish looking for tankmates lol ) , turtles im thinking either your one of the lucky ones with a placid jar or your gona come home one day missing a jag hahaha hope this is not the case and they live together in harmony

Turtles got his jar from me. The funny thing is, when I first got him he was one of the smallest but wasn't scared to pick fights... until he himself copped a whooping. Since then, he was fairly placid

I know its typical that turtles ended up with the placid one :D , try turtles technique of fish prison if he eats another jag hopefully that'll sort him out , they are a bit small though few bound to go missing how many jags you got left ?

I would be more worried about my jag fighting with the peacock bass im getting cause my jardini is very protective of my jag if some one chases my jag my jar will give them a whoopin but this has only happened once when my perch chased my jag for the food he had jag the jar chased the perch away from the jag to the other side of the tank

I've still got 5 left. They all know their place in the tank and the only one that regularly ventures away from the hiding spots is the biggest jag. He's around 8cm so still small enough to get eaten but he quickly scurries back whenever the toga moves close enough to him

The trouble with jars is they can squeeze into the smallest gaps mine used to find ways of getting into pipes and caves it was a constant battle as he was growing up moving stuff around and blocking pipes off to confuse him hahaha , I ended up cutting a pipe two inches shorter than the width of my tank and sticking it to the side of tank with suction cups , this way the gap and angle of the pipe was too small for him to get in but not for the jag ( inch either side if that makes sense ?) , once your jags grow a bit and find a permanent retreat they'll defend it with extreme aggression hopefully you'll get least gets pair out of the five

The jag prob will kick off a bit with PCB turtles they are hard as nails once established and get a bit of size and they've got the mouths to match peacocks , sounds like your gona have quite a pair of preds there with that jar jag tag team lol :D
