they look great peter! i can't wait for mine to look like that. mine are all growing nicely. what are you feeding yours?

Thanks :) Mostly just pellets really, with some bloodworm treats but it's getting hard as their mouths are getting too big :D I learned the trick from JD - mix a bunch of different pellets in a bottle and dump some in the tank everyday (Xtreme, shrimp pellets, Hikari gold, veggie pellets, Hikari Massivore, etc).

That is one gorgeous fish! Have you bred him yet?

That is a really good idea to track the growth on a monthly basis like that. I'll have to try that with some of my juvies that I'm growing out right now.

Atlanta may have magical water for most SA amazon fish, but there's not enough magic water in the world for that. One nearly impossible fish to breed.

Great pics Peter!

They haven't bred yet, and I'm not even positive that they are a pair. One did develop fin extensions earlier than the other by a month or two, but who knows :D They need very soft and acidic water (pH3-4 perhaps), so like JD said even my pH5.5 water may not be enough. They might be around 1-1.5 year old. Will have to try something special when they get older, if I have a spare tank for them...

Awesome. That was some pretty quick progression. Hahaha Daemon's always remind me of a pbass body, and a satanoperca head. Best of both worlds lol.

lol that's an interesting thought, and I think you are right! :)

Maybe I should have tried more SA eartheaters, as my pH was running around 3.5-4.5 there for a good year straight... no wonder my Brasiliensis were spawning so regularly.

Good luck on them possibly becoming a pair... I'd love to see a school of little daemons swimming around the tank ;).

Wouidn't that be nice! :)

Not all eartheaters like it so low....S. daemon is one of them. I believe they look better at low pH too - try them out :D

BEAUTIFUL fish!!! nice daemon, they seem very healthy
....def want to do some geos due to this forum LOL

I'd get some, but I just sold the tank that they'd have been going into. I may be moving, and will have a whole basement to devote to fishkeeping, so another 125g tank for eartheaters may be in my future ;).
