Saum tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A few pics of my old boys. I was gutted when I had to sell up. Though I was able to hand the saums off to a friend which made it a little easier. I had a salvini in with them for a while but found him to be super aggressive and very quick. My white male was a beautiful example. I'm a big believer in feeding shrimp/yabbies once a week for colour enhancement properties and good quality pellets and flakes. I definitely will not feed guppies and goldfish as a food source.

You guys need to stop . I promised my wife I wouldn’t get anymore tanks or fish for a bit and you’re making it hard to keep that promise
Beautiful GTs BTW

Awesome, guess I'll be heading up there this weekend. Thx mate??

It looks like you might already have a source but I just saw some in a shop called Aquapet in Derrimut doan here in Melbourne.
I know they ship discus so don’t see why they can’t do the same for these too.
Might be worth calling them if you are desperate.

Thx mate, always good to have more than 1 source to go through. I'll check them out.

Absolutely gorgeous terrors!! I've just recently got 2, hoping they are a pair but its quite early days as they're only around 60cm. I've always loved them and when I seen them at my lfs I had to have them. Loads of personally already, well cheeky they are!

Haha that's awesome mate. They do have loads of personality. You should be able to sex them at that size. Males will have more colour and pointer dorsal at the end. Also the blue lines on males cheeks look to be drawn with a sharp pencil so to speak , very crisp. Females lines will look washed out and kinda smudged/blurry. Also a rounded off dorsal fin. As for colour both can be pretty dull at that size especially if they are not the dominant ones in the tank.

Best bet for sexing ATM would be fins.

To be honest I do have a feeling as time goes on I have 2 males:

Im confident this one is a male:

But this one Im not so sure is a female, although it has a much rounder tip dorsal fin and the colours aren't as good as the other:
