No offence if its true, but I have a REALLY hard time believing your mom will go out and buy a nearly $200 fish she doesnt know about randomly without consulting anyone first.

from what she told me the pet store told her it was a "black snakehead" and she had no idea that snakeheads werent legal or how hard they were to find. She thought she was doing a nice thing because I've said how cool it would be to have a snakehead.

how is the op's aro doing?

Haha forreal I just read this whole thread and completely forgot about the op. Hope everything is good. Plenty of silvers are treated like crap anyways once they get sold from most LFS.

i don't think the op has posted since the babies starting whining about who is better at keeping fish then who... which was about 4 pages ago i believe.

see what you did boys, you completely through the op off his orginal topic. all in all, make peace love war, wait, no thats right!!!

seriously tho guys, its a mistake that happened lord knows how long ago and the deed is done. even if you guys fight now, i don't think he will change his mind 2 years ago, or however long ago it was.

The only way your going to save this aro is to move it to the ten gallon tank and treat the entire tank for ich. I just don't see you keeping is alive in an unfiltered bucket for two weeks. how would you treat the ich? Either heat and salt or meds, can't really do meds if your changing out the water everyday. Heat and salt, you would go through alot of salt with all the water changes, but do-able I guess. Do you have a heater for the bucket?

thanks for the tip, i put him in a ten gallon and added salt, i used the directions it came with, i also put the water at 81/82 degrees F and treated the tank, but he died this morning.... anything i should know to do next time? and i know now the bucket was a bad idea.

and guys im sorry i tried to save the arow but he was going to die... i could not just leave him there, so i took him home and tried my best with the help of you guys, (a little more help and less trash talk would have been better) but thats okay you guys still helped even if you were mean about it

alot of the 3"+- silvers i have had have rested on the bottom from time to time...they did it more with egg sacks, but it isn't uncommon...even my 10" aro stayed on the bottom till it was 15-17" after it jumpped came up to eat and then back to its spot...aslong as you get it in a tank with good filtration it should come around...i never used meds on my aros just heat and salt...
it was not laying like that, it6 had no yoke sach and it had ich all over, it was on its side at the bootom of the tank, my other arow rested at the bottom when i got him, this is deff not the same thing but good call, thanks for your help and concern

should bring the temp to about 86f or you wont defeat ich...maybe next time if you put it drectly into a tank it wont get extra stressed from another recapture/transfer as it has been through many to get to your tank...

Sorry to hear, the little guy was against some pretty steep odds. Baby SA arowana are hard to raise even when healthy and perfect tank condition are present. If you are serious about raising a baby aro I would suggest raising it in 55g by itself. Then have ready at least a 180g to transfer it to within about 6-8 months. I would also recommend getting a black over a silver arowana.

Let me know, as there is much more needed then just the tidbits of advice given above. Also sorry for any bits of joking sarcasm that came off as mean.
