Saving Money

I have lots of little secrets to save money. The most important thing is to document all of your spending. This way you can see where your money is going and what percentages you spend in certain categories such as: FOOD, TRANSPORTATION, ENTERTAINMENT, SOCIAL, ETC. Break your spending down and see EXACTLY where your money is going. Take control of your money, don't let it control you!

Here's a few easy tips anyone can do:

1. Carpool
2. Buy clothes and other items at thrift stores
3. Use Coupons
4. Pack your lunch for work/school
5. Stop dining out so much
6. Drink water
7. Instead of gym memberships, look up exercises on YouTube
8. Do-it-yourself home repairs. (Don't know how? Google it.)
9. Use the internet for entertainment
10. READ READ READ. I would suggest reading material that has something to do with personal finance or budgeting. You can never learn enough and there are countless tips available. For instance, this forum is a wonderful place to start.

:D I just finished a book called Money Saving Tips: A Poor Man's Guide to Prosperity. You can get it on Amazon. It is VERY USEFUL and easy to read. I inserted the link below.

I would also note that just Googling "money saving tips" will help you tremendously. Just use the internet at your disposal. Be creative! There are TONS of ideas and useful ways to save money. You just have to proactively seek these things and you will find them. Of course, it will take a little discipline, but it is well worth it!

I wish you all the best of luck! May your lives be wealthy, healthy, and satisfied!

If I save $$, can I spend it on fish right away??

How I save:
-Save $100 from every paycheck. More if I work OT.
-Save the money my parents give me. (They recently gave me $1000 to put into my account)
-Try not to eat out.

last but not least....

-Let the girlfriend pay for everything.

Just kidding! :)

I enjoy saving.
Direct deposit is my friend. What I don't see, I don't spend. Plus I am able to ration money for checking and savings.
I rarely spend 1 dollar bills. Most of what I buy cant be gotten for a dollar, So if at the end of the day I have any ones in my pocket they get tossed in the dresser drawer.
Same with coins, I have stockpiles of coins in several places, including my car. its pretty easy to scrape up 100 bucks in coins if I needed to.
It's a psychological game for me, The key to achieving wealth is to have several different streams of revenue. So it's the same when saving.
I save when I buy dry goods in bulk. Or when I fill my gas tank up once a week instead of nickle and diming my way.
I conserve energy and do my best to manage waste within my household. I do my best to maintain my clothing and rehab/repair them when necessary. I can make a 2 year old pair of sneakers look new with a little polish and a brush. I also do preventive maintenence on most major purchases.
If I had to offer one bit of advice. I would say that saving is not so much about setting money aside to draw interest. It's more about developing a lifestyle so that You can live well beneath Your means. Hope You are able to gloat come Feb. Kelly! just don't come around here flossin'.

Plan: I also put everything on my card. So when people give me cash for splitting stuff, I put it on my card and pocket the cash. That adds up fast!
Starting Amount:
Apx 500

So..... Who pays your card? I get this if someone else is paying your CC but if your paying your own CC then how is this saving?

Also, if your not paying your CC off every month then you're "borrowing" not saving.

Just curious because I'm the only one that commented on this and I was wondering why? I think I'm just way older than everyone here :irked:

When we refer to cards nowadays, It is typically in the sense of debit cards. which means that You don't spend what You don't have. When she says:
splitting stuff.
I assume she means like dinner or something. Anyone that purchases a meal via credit card isn't interested in saving.

Naw, I feel your pain.

my hubby does this! he has buckets and drawers, bowls, ashtrays full.
it gets so annoying though, I threaten to someday fill up a wheelbarrow and roll it on into the Bank.
He says Don't mess with my coin,
THAT's our IRA.

Lol! I wish I could account for the coin I lose in the laundry. I reckon my Woman and Children gets at least $10 a week from me. Not a lot, but it adds up.
