Saving Money

So..... Who pays your card? I get this if someone else is paying your CC but if your paying your own CC then how is this saving?

Also, if your not paying your CC off every month then you're "borrowing" not saving.

Just curious because I'm the only one that commented on this and I was wondering why? I think I'm just way older than everyone here :irked:

lol, sorry, meant my check card, not credit card. THAT would get me nowhere in a hurry! lol

EDIT: I did not read ahead before I commented so, yeah, what Paw said. lol

I have lots of little secrets to save money. The most important thing is to document all of your spending. This way you can see where your money is going and what percentages you spend in certain categories such as: FOOD, TRANSPORTATION, ENTERTAINMENT, SOCIAL, ETC. Break your spending down and see EXACTLY where your money is going. Take control of your money, don't let it control you!

Here's a few easy tips anyone can do:

1. Carpool
2. Buy clothes and other items at thrift stores
3. Use Coupons
4. Pack your lunch for work/school
5. Stop dining out so much
6. Drink water
7. Instead of gym memberships, look up exercises on YouTube
8. Do-it-yourself home repairs. (Don't know how? Google it.)
9. Use the internet for entertainment
10. READ READ READ. I would suggest reading material that has something to do with personal finance or budgeting. You can never learn enough and there are countless tips available. For instance, this forum is a wonderful place to start.

:D I just finished a book called Money Saving Tips: A Poor Man's Guide to Prosperity. You can get it on Amazon. It is VERY USEFUL and easy to read. I inserted the link below.

I would also note that just Googling "money saving tips" will help you tremendously. Just use the internet at your disposal. Be creative! There are TONS of ideas and useful ways to save money. You just have to proactively seek these things and you will find them. Of course, it will take a little discipline, but it is well worth it!

I wish you all the best of luck! May your lives be wealthy, healthy, and satisfied!

(I'm kind of all over the place this morning, forgive me, lol)

I don't know who are sir(?) but those are some good tips. Thanks!

Pay $1000 a month extra toward the principle of the mortgage and save about $175k in interest during the loan.

I just started doing this too, two months now. Not sure how long I can continue but it feels good when I look at the monthly statment.

Ahhhhhh okay, I guess it's an old thing :)

I get points on my credit card. I push as much as possible through the card and pay it off monthly. I wish I could put my mortgage on it but my electric and water, cable and phone, all go through the card. I get free hotel rooms with the points :) When the wife and I go on vacation all we pay for is Air and food :)

I get about 15 free nights a year!

I use direct deposit, split your paycheck two accounts one is for spend, the other is saving.

Like most suggestion, pack your lunch, i do this all the time and save me at least 5 bucks a day.

Do you guys have a separate savings account? We don't. Never saw the need for it. I don't even know when our paydays are :nilly: Since we don't live check-to-check, I never saw the need to put a certain amount in a separate place. It won't get spent anyways.

its kinda tough to save these days...no such thing as a true savings account at a bank ...

Imagine that, a group of people with extensive fish, tattoo and gun collections dont have a lot to contribute to a thread about saving money.
Saving and hobby don't go well with each other. You work hard to play hard!
