I don't have the room for one! I just moved to a new town and all I have is a 40g breeder and a 29g. I walked into the local fish store today and someone had brought in a GORGEOUS 10" male creamsicle Midas. He had the chunky body, large nuchal hump, everything. It just killed me to see him because I know I don't have the room for him and I've been searching for a fish like this for years. At his size and aggression level he definitely needs a 75g+ and I don't have the money to set one up. He's in a 20g at the store because he's so aggro that he can't go into any of their huge monster tanks, so he's stuck in a small tank until someone takes him. :(

In a year I'll be moving again and hopefully setting up a small indoor pond that I hope to house a large Midas in. It just sucks that he's exactly what I want and I can't have him!

where in Florida did you see this fish? let people know, maybe somebody will snatch him up . . .

A 29g "VERY TEMPERARY" would be ok for a short time while you wait for a good deal on Craigs. I would grab him NOW!! Your parrot and Convict might be ok with each other in the 40g. If not just add a divider.

<-----Just look at my Avatar. You know you want one.

Anubisscott, he actually looks a LOT like your guy, but his orange is lighter (maybe due to the stress, maybe it's his natural coloring). Dang it, you're not helping, haha.

I'll sleep on it and if I'm still so obsessed tomorrow, the fish store is good about holding fish for people up to a week.

If you could, maybe give up the parrot or con and house him in the 40 and move one of the other two into the 29. I hate to see you not get the fish you've been wanting for years. You could always get another parrot or con but these guys don't fall into your lap every day. Then like Scott said keep an eye on Creg's for a good deal on a 75 or 90.

Well I just saw a 75g on CL, and person said they will deliver locally. I emailed him... sigh. I really shouldn't be doing this, haha. We'll see if it goes through.

Aquanero, that was a nice thought but I can't get rid of the fish I already have, I'm too attached to them.

The tank's still available. Includes tank, wooden stand, glass lids, 2x fluorescent strip, heater, big Emperor and Penguin filters, and various accessories. I'm pretty picky about my setups and this one sounds good. Price is $250, I'm trying to talk him down. Keep your fingers crossed!

(P.S. I've already named the fish Wrinkle, because he has a crease in his dorsal fin. If the tank comes through I'll go to the LFS and ask them to put him on hold.)
Why dont you put him on hold first and then see if the tank sale works out or not.
Yes, I would do this too, while wating on the tank deal.
