Saw a gorgeous creamsicle Midas, but...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I don't know if the tank is going to come through. As soon as I mentioned a price drop his emails stopped. Haven't heard back in an hour and a half and he was responding immediately before.

I guess I'll head over to the LFS and see if he's still there. If so, I'll put him on hold and take a picture. :-)

Edit: The tank's a no-go. It was listed on my local Craigslist but he's actually 3 hours away.

Then I would talk him down $50 for travel. if your coming to get it that far I am sure the person would make a deal.

I've thought all day about it, and I'm not going to get him. I just downsized a lot for a move which was a hard thing to do. I really can't afford a big tank right now (yeah, I know, 75g is not that big but for me it is). Also, I'm moving yet again in a year so I need to be reasonable.

I went back to the store, and my second viewing wasn't quite the love-at-first-sight that the initial visit was. I started concentrating on all the reasons why I didn't want this fish. In the end, I hope I made the right decision. I've had 4 Midas before and none of them have turned into my dream fish. I'm really picky about what I'm looking for.

Thanks to you guys for listening. I'll keep dreaming for that exact fish I want, and maybe after my next move I can get it. :-/

Sounds like you've talked yourself out of the fish, which is a hard thing to do, so I understand, but if you put it in the 29 for now it would still be better off than being in the 20 it's in at the store. You have to be smart about it though, so I understand why you're holding off, but don't wait too long for that dream fish. You might be expecting too much.

Yeah I've definitely talked myself out of getting him, which was made easier by the fact that I can't afford it right now and don't have room for a 75g. If I'd had the money readily available, I'm pretty sure he'd be home by now. :) But I can't argue with an empty wallet, either.

I know what you mean about setting my expectations too high for my dream fish. I'm sure I have, lol.

best of luck finding your dream fish....my red devil is becoming to be the fish of my dreams...hes creamsicle too...

I went back to the store today, over a month later, and that poor fish is still there, in a 20g. Heck, at this point my 40g breeder would be a huge improvement. He's still gorgeous...

But I can't really afford a 75g at the moment. Maybe by Christmas, but that's too long for him to sit in a 40g.

P.S. None of this is made easier by the fact that my absolute favorite fish, my marble convict, may very well have a broken spine from jumping out of his tank, and I might have to euthanize him tomorrow. He's going to the vet school for x-rays and an ultrasound, and if it's bad news I'll be losing my favorite fish. Emotions are high for me right now...
