Saw an eagle today. McKean, PA

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Animal conservation actually worked for once. These guys are making a great come back. There is a breeding pair with a nest the size of a car along the Susquahanna river here in Cumberland county. Thats the only wild ones I have seen.

Believe it or not there are plenty of nice sized hawks here in Philadelphia but to actually see an eagle, free and wild, has to be a real treat.

I don't find your joke funny.
Stay out of my threads please, and thanks in advance.
I don't know if you care (I hope you do), but the population went to 0 in my neck of the woods, and just these past few years have we been seeing these birds return to where they once where in any kind of decent numbers.
People used to say what you saw was a hawk?, even today they don't believe you or say are you sure it wasn't a hawk?
Now I am proud to say I watched an eagle on my way to school. My parents didn't get to say that, and I hope my grandkids can call me and say the same thing I told my dad. "I Saw an eagle today", and put a smile on my face as I did his.

Nope, didn't know it was a big deal. They're trash birds around here. You see them on the beach and sometimes digging through the trash. They also line the I-5 corridor. I meant it as a lighthearted jab.

Good to hear, up here in erie county I have spotted a few. Most are juveniles. I sometimes spot them roosting on the Lake Erie bluffs in North East, PA. and from my boat close to shore.
And also flying overhead at walmart, and on a putt putt course oddly and sadly enough.

Wow. I've only seen one bald eagle in my life. (in the wild) Truly magnificent creatures and if you think extinction is a joke, you are really sick, because these birds were on the brink of it.
