Saw an eagle today. McKean, PA

i've seen some in alaska, some in canada ( vancouver) . and i heard there are even an overabundance of them in some of the fishing villages in alaska. but eitherway, magnificient birds.

i lived in palo alto ( san francisco bay area ) , and saw a white tailed hawk ( not the official name , it just had a white tail...) being chased by ravens , which was sad cuz i'm pretty sure those ravens are invasive, and they are everywhere in that town being aggressive now :|

I love watching bald eagle cams. Here are highlights of the 2009 season from my favorite nest, the Sidney nest. Ma and Pa Sidney have been together a long time. Their nest is over 8' in diameter, and they had two nests. At the end of this video compilation, the three fledglings are in the "old nest" This year, the tree with the old nest broke during a severe wind storm.

Here is very recent video from the Hornby nest. Ma and Pa Hornby are at least 24 years old. They have been laying eggs in this nest since 1990.

Tragedy struck both the Hornby and Sidney nests in 2010. This year, the Sidneys laid two eggs. About a week before the first egg hatched, a raven flew in and stole an egg while Ma was taking a quick break. The Hornbys also had two eggs. One did not hatch. We got to watch Phoenix from the time she/he hatched until she suddenly collapsed and died from a weird lung infection. She was just a week or two from fledging.

These bald eagle cams are very addicting.
