USMCtanker, those are some real nice pictures, thanks for sharing. Pretty neat that you see them so often. One thing that always gets me is how huge they are, even as juvies. I could see this ones talons very well, so neat.

there makeing a come back. still harsh laws. if u get caught with a feather of a bald eagle an are not native american its a felony here is wa state, crazy huh. but the eagles numbers are on the rise.

I work in wildlife medicine and the volume of birds we handle and treat is obscene. For some species as magnificent as they are you see so many, being around them seems commonplace and its just another day at work. When you are in the presence of an eagle either bald or golden it inspires a such a reverence that no matter how seasoned the practitioner is it is never commonplace. It can be the busiest intensive care full of hustle and noise, bring in one of these birds and its amazing how even the other animals get quiet, like everything in the building can tell they are in the presence of something amazing.

i was lucky enough to see a few while on a kayaking trip on the upper Connecticut river last summer, not nearly as close as you though, congrats

Wow. I've only seen one bald eagle in my life. (in the wild) Truly magnificent creatures and if you think extinction is a joke, you are really sick, because these birds were on the brink of it.

sweet! i love to see them so consider myself very lucky to have a breeding pair that lives just 2 miles from my house. i dont have any pix so sorry, but around here we have bald eagles and goldens and love to see them. i remember one of the best memories i have with my dad was while we where mountain biking a huge one flew right over our heads and grabbed a baby cottontail out of the bush in front of us then ate it in a dead oak tree right in front of us. you just gotta love a creature that majestic...

Nope, didn't know it was a big deal. They're trash birds around here. You see them on the beach and sometimes digging through the trash. They also line the I-5 corridor. I meant it as a lighthearted jab.

lmao, i was thinking similar thoughts when i first read the title, like what's the big deal, they're all over here. it's cool that you guys are excited about them though. i'm just use to seeing them on a regular basis

i live in western mass and see many bald eagle i go tubing down a river and there was a bald eagle sitting on a dead hanging tree right over the water. Also a town near me turners had a bald eagle nest cam but was taken down because of all the "missing" cats brought to the nest
