Oh no, I wonder why!

Hey andy, i'm having that problem with one of my fish as well.. i agree some fish are jsut shy, i have it divided up with another, in others words its sharing the tank divided with another 2 king diamonds, she eats and everything but it hides in the back behind the filter most of the time, the male on the other hand next to her is always at the front begging for food, I think it might be a time thing, she comes to the front when shes hungry but will usually return to the back, or if i enter the room she hides. My waters perfect so who knows. Good luck man

IMO it depends on the fish first but it also depends on what you keep it with and how big it is. Food is usually the easiest thing to get a fish out of hiding but I still have some fish that refuse to eat pellets off the top of the water they prefer the sinking stuff. With a flowerhorn it should usually be fearless by 4" as long as it has no competition in the tank. Your 40gallon should be enough for the flowerhorn to be itself. Maybe just give it some time to develop. If not you may want to take out extra decoration/hiding places to get it out more.

yep its female, just got it recently, its sick with hex atm, i got her sick. so it could explain part of my problem with the shyness, both male and female were sick, the male was worse off, but looks like his recovery is faster, he's more of a fighter than the female, and she is picky with food.. its getting frustrating, but i'm persevering. Sorry no pics atm, waiting for her to improve. fingers crossed, good luck with yours do you have a pic? Is it one you got off LHA?? If its the one im thinking of, its nice fish man!
