Scared fish

Do you notice excessive algae? Phosphates are a food source for algae and plants which are both IMO beneficial to your tank. High phosphate levels can be controlled by using ferric oxide to help absorb them. Be careful using it though because like I said it's a food source for plants an algae so you want to lower them, not completely remove.

I suppose it could affect your fishes behavior, but I still think alot of it has to do with the newness of the surroundings. Excess phosphates can be a pain so they are best controlled. They can come in through your local water supply as well. Ferric oxide is your best absorbent but watch dosage as it can lower o2 levels supposedly

The shop dude told me i should take some water to the shop, so he could examine it. He thought it was because there was too much phosphate in the water? ...... What would u guys do? Do u think phosphate could be the cause of the JD's fear?

The shop dude is talking absolute and complete bo11ocks (that's "testicles", between you and I). Ignore him, is my advice.

I dont have any sort of algae at all.

Ok thx guys, I thought he was telling bs. I guess he wanted me to buy some phosphate products.

Don't unless you know for sure you need them. They are expensive and can wreck havoc on your tank if used improperly. If you have no algae than you don't likely have excess phosphates. Might want to find another lfs.

Well I know for sure I dont need phosphate products. The fish aint scared because of the water quality, the other fish are scared because of the JD. I think the shop keeper just wanted to make some money and hoped Im gonna go back to let him test my water.

But im not gonna do that ofc.

So what do u guys think about the x12 Gymnocorymbus ternetzi?
They are quite big, so I hope the oscar wont eat them yet.
I hope the JD will get calm now, Ill take pictures tomorrow, because the water isnt clear right now, did some water change and some sand is moving around in the water now.

They'll be fine for what you want them for.

At some point in the future the oscar will be big enough to eat them. If that's a problem for you, then re-home them before that happens !

Just want to say thx to you all!
The trick with the schooling fish is working! All my fish are coming out and are less scared.

As promised some pictures
