Not for a few months. No tank space means no LFS trips. :(

If tank size is not an issue I go with Umbee as well.

i agree, with both statements.

citrinellus are always a classic glass banging cichlid.
pretty easy to teach to glass bang to.

She may not be up there with some of the big boys but my red devil was a glass banger for years. She has calmed down some now that she has become "middle aged" (7 years old) but she used to hold her own. I still won't put any fish in with her.

glass bangers ive owned (most banging from the top):

1. Adult Male N. tetracanthus (fish is a nut case especially towards humans)
2. Adult Male A. citrinellus (also very aggressive towards owner and bites hard)
3. Juvie Male P.dovii (still has time, hes 6" at the mo)

i also own grammodes and there very aggro towards tank mates at 3.5" but not glass bangers yet.

checkout snakeheads or channa micropeltes or mthe many other channa species, they have some good aggression but may not be legal where you are.
hes looking for a cichlid last time i checked a snakehead is not a cichlid

thanks for all the responses. the trimac and barred midas are high up on the list of must haves right now. umbee's are cool but since i already have dovii im not really prepared to devote 2 300+g tanks to a couple fish.

Midas and the like have always been the most dependable glass bangers in my experience.

That said, you realize they glass bang as a result of a stimulus poor environment right? Of course, they will do a good bit of it during breeding, but glass banging generally is a pathological behavior similar to the abnormal behavior seen in zoos and prisons.

hence the " " around glassbangers in my original post. im not looking for fish that actually bang the glass relentlessly, but overall agro behavior and interaction with the fish when i come up to the tank. but a bang when provoked protecting his territory from my flailing fingers is always nice.
