Schooling fish with Bichirs?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How big are your polys?
Biggest are my 13" ornate and teugelsi. My lap and ansorgii are just a tad smaller but much thicker.

Not sure if it makes a difference, but my tank is 29" high and the danios stay at the top, while my polys only come to the top for air.

The danios have been in 6+ months with no lost to poly stomachs.

I alternate mine with sinking pellets live shrimp and baby mollies well I say alternate but what really happens is I give them pellets twice a week and the rest of the time they are hunters and I know they are eating because they have little knots in their tummy's

Agreed. My dels took out a school of 10 giant danios when they were only 8". It took them about 2 months and they had grown up with them. At that point they had never had live food as I had them since they were about 1".
Lucky for the danios, I have a 360g being delivered this week that all my big guys will be moving into. Then the danios will share their 170g with only a pink tail chalceus and a lone synodontis.

they eventually will be food they are shaped perfectly depending on your tank size I'd use a deep bodied fish like silver dollars or something similarly shaped maybe some dats ?
Im really not on the SD thing. Ive never really liked them in person as in owning them, they are kind of a PIA personality wise. Eat your plants, gobble your food so no one else gets a chance, and are fairly aggressive to quite a few other fish. They always look nice in groups though.
