Yep. Why else would abortion be legal?

Actually no. The group with the lowest birth rate (upper middle and upper classes) have the lowest abortion rate. So contraception and education lower birth rate much more effectively.

If you don't know it's bad for you? Who in this day and age doesn't know the smoking is bad? Excessive drinking? In the US you are choosing not to know or care.

Pretty sure this will get locked now.

I don't want to get into the politics of it (I'm pretty sure it's against forum rules), but that's not why abortion is legal. Abortion is legal so that women can have a choice regarding what happens within their bodies, and whom they bring into this world. Abortion really wouldn't do anything to the birth rate since most people who have lots of kids wanted lots of kids in the first place.

BTW back to the topic of a fountain of youth sans the politics or the Illuminati.

I'd be curious to see the brain function of those rats after the treatment. Reversing the aging of body cells is one thing, brain function is very different.

I would be more worried about areas not effected by the treatment...like the bones...sure you stay strong and alive...but eventually you'd be come strong enough that moving your arm would break your own bones? would it not?

Whenever something like this comes up, it seems like a great new advance in science that's going to make you live longer, healthier, and BETTER lives. But in the end it seems like every new discovery ends up just prolonging the most unhealthy, painful, worst years of humans lives, so that the medical community can wring every last dollar out of them before they die...

Shouldn't we spend this money on the things we CAN cure/fix, such as poverty, starvation (in our own country, let alone others), STD's, spinal cord injury, etc, rather than things that we CAN'T and SHOULDN'T be trying to fix, like death?

(And before anyone blows up at me, I have a degree in biology with 4 years of medical and research experience).

Actually reversing the aging of cells would help with STD and Spinal cord injuries at the same time avoiding the political mine field of fetal stem cell research.

Poverty and starvation are not fixable. Even in fully socialized countries like the soviet union there was still poverty and starvation. As a bio major the idea of carrying capacity and population growth WRT it would have been hammered home constantly.

No one in the medical field wants to prolong the worst part of life. To suggest this is openly insulting to those of us in the field. Even if we were all just greedy bastards sick people don't get paid and thus will not contribute to our salaries. Now healthy people who live longer and require maintenance and preventive care are a different story.

The use of this sort of medication or treatment could definitely aid developing countries and those related places.

Assume you have a cow to give milk to your family...now if that cow dies every 5 years...you need to have someone to breed ALOT of cows to provide each family with a cow...to be able to provide this many cows you need alot of healthy cows living together...

Now, if your cow lived 10 years...you would buy a cow half as much as you would before...meaning your supplier would need to produce half as many cows...

OR they would need to use half as many resources to feed there animals?

doubling your resources, by...respectively...doubling the life of your produces.

I have news for everybody on this thread. You will all die, someday! Repent now!

Greedy or not;)
