scombs look like a hatchet fish almost, the way it's belly tapers

i still still have 3 for almost a year now. score is 12 tats/7 rhaphs down, 0 scombs/0 armatus. growth on scombs came to near standstill for months at around 7-8inchs.

Twelve tats!I tried to get a group together but one killed one so I am down to just two and they are kind of hard to come by.

they brought them in like there was no tomorrow. every LFS had them and what was a 4" tat priced at 50usd was seen for about 25bucks towards the end of the cycle. Towards the end, even the LFS's were saying they didn't like to stock tats and rhaphs cos they'd KO themselves against the glass.Saw 10"ers for 90usd other day and no one's buying. Will see how long they last.

lol...yea 12, long story short they are easily spooked (by lights and tankmates) and one by one to the last tat, hari kiri'd.

Im laughing now but wasnt then. scombs are better in this respect, like the amoured tanks of payara, not as streamlined but slow(er) and steady by comparison.

ive found that with scombs as well.
dont move much,and dont really get spooked like tats.
too bad theyre just so...die-able.

Die-able,good one.I would like to have another scomb to go with the other sabertooths but the only ones that are around here are just too small and I just dont have the patience to start another tank and take forever to grow one to a comparable size to my other payara.I dont even use the tank lights with my tats,I think it helps keep them calm.

i get big scombs here sometimes.
im afraid of bringing them home only to have them pass...
i never really had tats that were the bash their face in type.
they would just go weeks without eating and hide behind anything they can.

Every now and then one of my tats will bang up his snout but it heals up in a few weeks,currently they are harder to get than armatus around here.

seems like armatus are everywhere now...back then,only a few guys had them.

Did you get your tats online or lfs? I still cant find any for sale/ except when aquascape had some a few month's ago. But they were all way to big.

I got two of them from an on line vendor but he is not a member here,and one of them was the last one that Sharkaquarium had.I was wondering if Aquascape had any left and was thinking about calling Pedro.You should have gotten the big ones.
