Scomb with black spots

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Although the head and jaw structure points to an Armatus, their swimming angle seems off, and their straight back makes me lean away from an Armatus, could just be that they are so small though .... a little growth and a little time should make the ID definite

nah those indeed are armatus. Baby scombs don't have spots on their bodies. Plus, armatus don't ALWAYS swim straight. My 10 inchers sometimes swim in a 30 degree angle. If the armatus are indeed not armatus, they will be red tails. Anyways, i'm 98% sure they are armatus. lol.

I had one vendor tell me that scombs and redtail season is starting up, but not armatus yet... anyone has a pic of a baby redtail to compare? I am not challenging the Id, just curious.

As I stated. I am not challenging the id, just really curious what an equivalent sized redtail payara looks like. You got a steal of a deal regardless.

I'm out and about right now so I can't, but when I get home later I'll post a baby redtail.

Hey jakb55, also curious, did you happen to get a collection point? For example, did it come from Ven, or Peru etc.? Once again, not challenging your armatus, just trying to learn a little more.
