Gas generators can be invaluable, Glad to here all is well.

thanks man, going to order one tonight

before I do I have one more question though. for a 125 gallon do you think one of those is enough? and what do you do to keep the water warm because when the power went out on my tank it dropped almost 7 degrees in a little over an hour. water change with warm water?

A 125G won't use much power, i'd recommend getting a 1-2kW gas generator to run it if power outages are common. You don't need to keep everything going, just your heater, your airpump, and one of your filters. Generators usually go for about $100 per 1kW of power, well worth it to not have to worry about power outages in my opinion.

Yah power outages are pretty rare here. Maybe once or twice a year and rarely for more than an hour or two.

Changing out water and adding warm will work just make sure its not too warm. My tank only dropped 8 degrees or so when it was down and it is cold out

get a cheap generator best to be safe than sorry

If you have a sump then run air pump, small circa pump or normal pump to circa the water and a heater....most circa pumps to run the sump to tank can only take 50-100. Watts bit you could just circa one end of the sump to the other if using a smaller generator.

If you keep the sump running then the bacteria stays alive too!
