Scrubbies!!! number crunchers look

Well guys i am just tossing a curious question out there. I was wondering what the scrubbie to gallons would be. Meaning how many scrubbies take care of how many gallons? How do companies say sumps that already have bio balls added to the wet/dry are recommended for a certain tank size. Is there a formula for this? Just wondering if anyone could figure out the number of scrubbies per gallon you would need. Thanks.

13 packs of 6 in my amiricle sump... its runnin on a 125 right now but also have a canister and ac 110..

Considering the fact that water volume has absolutely nothing to do with bio-load, no, there is no x scrbbies to y gallons.

According to coralife you need one gallon of bio balls per 45-60g of water

Scrubbies have twice the surface area as bio balls, sorry no link for this right now. So about a gallon of scrubbies per 100g of water. if you search through zennzo threads he has an equation for how many srubbies per gallon. Or maybe PM him.

i just DIYed a sump and packed 42 scrubbies in it. Its on a 180. The sump i replaced was rated for a 180 and with my new sump i have alot more biomedia inside. The scrubbies take up a full 5 gallon bucket. (42 scrubbies filled my 5 gallon bucket just tossed in) Maybe ill add some ceramic noodles to the "sump" part of my wet/dry

i have 250 scrubbies and 2 five gallon buckets of bio balls in my 300 sump. it's heavily stocked and will continue to be stocked even more so i overdid it. hey, scrubbies are cheap

haha thats great. I plan on having a 75 or 55 gallon tank under my new 360 gallon. I wonder how many scrubbies i could diy into the 55 gallon aposed to the 75. Anyone have a 55 gallon the diyed and scrubbie count? I will also have my renxp4 thats only running the filter pads and all bins full of rena stars. ( they are expensive but ssooo cool lol.) Then my fx5 with pads and filled with 5 liters of ceramic noodles

Lets here some more scrubbie / bio ball count in your sumps. Tanks size and wet/dry size

mines a 55 diy sump and i also have the return pump and all the drip system stuff in there with room to spare. what are the dimensions of the 360?

parents said no to the 535. They said nothing bigger than 2' wide. So i decided to take up the biggest wall possible. Its 1 inch thick acrylic too.

the stand and canopy are made out of acrylic also. They will me matted black , though i kind of want the stand to be see through. The sump will be a 55 gallon clear sump , it would be cool to see the filtration through the stand
