Remember, were talking to fisherman here. I fish both fresh and salt, everything from bluegill to blue marlin. Yes, saltwater fishing can be more exiting, in terms of size and strength of the fish. But someone who say's they love saltwater fishing for catching 40 lbs striped bass is a bit of a fool, as I reguraly catch them in freshwater. But, never caught a tuna in freshwater. Really powerful fish, especially on the fly.
Most of the freswater giants arenot found in north america. We have muskie, sturgeon, and cats, and thats it for our giants. Unless you want to add carp, but most people think of them as rough fish. Very unfortunate, they are a worthy fishy. However, for salt, we got the groupers, sharks, marlins, and tunas, not to mention drums, wahoo, stripers, ect. The ocean just has more diversity.
