  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Congrats mate, can you tell when the female is pregnant? How big is your female and how old is she? My pair are about 2 years old and the female is 12" across, she is really fat atm and really high in the back end.
Do the parents show any aggression to there young if you leave them in the sam tank?

Thanks,

Thomas

Woah. nice. Congrats dude. I would love to breed rays. Now you gave me inspiration. Tell us more on the water param too. Temp in the tank and stuff. 11 pups wow

water parameter are: Nitrite 0
Nitrate close to zero
Temperature of water is very important, I keep it pretty cool around 78 degree. Put it this way, I only use a 250W heater for the whole 200g tank during the winter and it is turn off the whole summer.

I think this is why all the pups are very healthy because high temperature could cause deformity or stillborn.

Nice, what size are they born at? or does that depend on the size of the parents? GL with them!

They were borned at around 2 to 2.5 inch. Their size depends on the number in a litter. The previous litter, I had only 5 and they were around 3 inch.

The reason I knew she's due because the previous litter was borned on the 19th of May and they usually mate right away so you figure it takes 90 days for gestation. In fact, females are known to carry eggs ready for fertilization during pregnancies.

The female is around 19" disc. I don't know her age, I bought them as a pair.

Your female is a little bit small but a swollen back end is a good sign.
The parents are great guardians, they let the youngs climb all over them especially the mother, but when they get to around 5 to 6 inch I prefer to move them out because the male wants to compete.
