Is the cycle done ? Why is my water still cloudy ? My Ammonia does not seem to be going up. How come ? How come the Nitrites are not going up ? This is the secret------ I used a nitrifying bacteria called Turbo Start. (Fritz Aquatics)I tested the water everyday but did not see the Ammonia or Nitrite peek. I thought when the water clears up the cycle would be done. I was Mistaken. The cycle was quick. I did not pick it up on the tests I have done. So I tried ----are you ready ? --- The big SECERT Here it is------ACUREL F A couple of hours later the water was crystal clear. Its perrrrrrrfect. I had to share this with you guys. I guess sometimes the water does not clear up on its own even though you have sufficient amounts of bacteria in your filters.

To be more specific, it's called FRITZ-ZYME TURBO START Freshwater 700. Only sold from a refrigerator. This is a expensive high concentrated Live Nitrifying Bacteria. Then to clear up water its the ACUREL F

What do bacteria and cycling have to do with water clarity?
The bacteria remove particles that are to small to be removed by mechanical filtration.

What do bacteria and cycling have to do with water clarity? Everything----A well established filter will clean your water better and stabilize your tank. The more growth inside your filter makes a healthier environment for your fish. Any advanced hobbyist can explain this to you.

The bacteria convert ammonia to nitrite and nitrite to nitrate... fail to see how that has anything to do with clarity. But whatevs.

I worded that wrong. The tank becomes cloudy because the heterotrophic bacteria becomes free floating. They become free floating due to an abundance of waste that they feed on is still in the main tank probably in the substrate. The only reason op is happy is because he's experiencing the clarity of the tank most likely after the bacteria ate themselves to starvation due to the lack of waste.

The water in my 75 gallon goldfish tank is sparkling clear. But it can get murky when the Goldfish start bottom feeding the gravel away from under the power head.

The secret to clear water is to have a power head linked up to a under gravel filter with at least two inches of gravel over the substrate.
