Try adding additional caves/hiding spots to the tank in different combinations. They like clutter in the sense that it makes them think they can't be seen. They'll calm down and adjust. When I hand feed mine during the day with the room/tank lights on it's always in my BGK's cave. I stick the shrimp at the cave entrance and my BGK sticks his tail into my hand. Then, once he knows that it's me and what I have, he goes back into the cave and comes out headfirst to the edge to take the food from my hand.
You can do this to yours, each time seeing if you can get him to come and further and further. Over time they'll get use to the lights and hopefully come out a bit more (or so the theory goes). And BGK are bred, just usually accidently or very secretively. One would need a large tank or luck.

That's what I've been doing. Putting the food into his cave and then tapping on top and now he comes right out!!

Can't say the same for the Sens when they try to steal his food or go in his cave...lol.
