i read about this a while back and i think there is a video on youtube, it's not a chef who made this it's a company in japan.
 
Very very disgusting. I can't imagine how bad the water is... and how is it aerated?
 
how do you heat the oil without boiling the water and the fish???

thats what I've been wondering. i used to be a fry cook back during the nero administration and the bottom of the oil basin was heated...I don't know how this works..
 
agree with mattison-how would there be any O2 in that water for the goldfish? and wouldnt there be tiny globules of fat IN the water anyways that the fish will always have going through his gills? weird... and cruel.

It's not a fish tank.

It's a restaurant fryer with water at the bottom to collect waste which would normally contaminate the oil and shorten it's life. It's a great invention. The fish is just there to prove that it is water at the bottom.

Fish do not live in there. Ever.

Interesting... I think the fish would survive like a day max. Although, goldfish are known for enduring some pretty crazy stuff.
