wow, those are amazing. So he did that through selective breeding?

yup, he heldback the nicest ones, and bred those to other holdbacks, and pretty much alot of what he now produces is top notch... You will notice alot of the bearded dragon breeders use at least some of his dragons in there breeding.

Ya, i understand why. Those genetics just shows his hard work.

Have you ever thought it is the challenge that makes it fun? .

I wish all breeders thought this way, but it is more like

"Make as much as possible in as short as time as possible."

Very few people breed for preservation of a species and to conserve the amount in the wild by captive breeding of common species.

They think Why breed a $29.00 common Leo when you can breed a $1200 Variety

Have you ever thought it is the challenge that makes it fun? The thing is that it might be a long time for them to reach sexual maturity but look at it this way, your end destination might be selective breeding but along the way you find good ways to breed them or many ways not to breed them. The thing is i like this idea so much as if everyone had the attitude it will take forever for sexual maturity then it would never happen, but it will also make victory even richer in the end. I think i am gonna try it out and see what i can come up with but i am not gonna make it my main goal.

Ok, keep them coming but i need help now. I need a good breeder i can get contact for leapord geckos, a good site or breeder with pics of garter pics and a couple of good links for matas to extend my research.

The point/fact of the matter is that if you were to produce anything, it would be breeding, not "selective" breeding........"Selective" breeding brings the conotation that you've gone through generations of line breeding to get a certain "look".........

That is attainable with Leopard Geckos and Bearded Dragons, not Matas or 90% of the Turtes available in the trade.......Selective breeding basically means a refined look.......

Shoot, I have Matas available now if you wanted to jump right into to it.....

The only way I could see you working with matas to try selective breeding would be if by a genetic jackpot you got your hands on a albino mata (cative hatched, wild cauth,...). That way you would get a head start and even if after many years you only got hets (if you were that lucky) they would already worth a gazillion dollars. But really no garantees of sucess.

Yes, i agree. Longshot very much.

Ok guys, so far i like all the ideas including the ideas:
Garter snakes
Mud turtles
Lepord geckos
Bearded dragons

I think i might start out with the leapord geckos and mud turtles first and maybe see if i can dig up a male and female matas. The mata matas are stricly just for trying to breed mata matas. Not for selective breeding. Atleast not for now. Down the road i would love to start breeding uros as my main focus but for now i am looking small scale. I still want ideas people, keep them coming.
