Semi aggressive

salvini sounds good. if not you could go for Sajica or blue eye cichlids for something a bit different
(if you keep both sajica and Blue eyed cichlid they will interbreed)

+ 1 for the Salvini. Female only though.

sounds to me like you have a pretty well stocked 55 gal. why add more in that tank?

A nicaraguense is semi-aggressive, like I mentioned. But you really are getting pretty full up. Salvini are aggressive from what I understand.

Well, you could try a gourami species. Moonlight gourami get fairly large, but are not very agressive, they just want to make sure they get the food first. Or Lace (pearl/mosaic) Gourami, also very pretty, and they like to go around and touch everything with their feelers. Or ,my new favorite, Rainbowfish- maybe like a Terquoise, Red, Trifasciata, or Boesemani Trio.
Just a thought-:)

Your parrot fish, do you mean Blood Parrot or the true Parrot cichlid? Both of those will get to a decent size so your tank stock is pretty much full already.

Here's some suggestions anyways. Most Geophagus species are peaceful, exceptionally beautiful, and don't get too large so they might be a option. Severums are another group that's not too aggressive but do get to decent sizes though.

All in all if you decide to not go with none cichlids maybe some Clown loaches(I love these guys).

You are limiting yourself with the 55, but you may want to try neets.

Neets are little hellbenders when they breed. I remember having a pair in a 90g with a 10"+ male Midas and everytime they breed they would take over more than half the tank.
