Semi intro and Oscar growth questions

So a semi month update, I have treated my O with internal parasite meds. Not sure if it's the meds or not but he is definitely getting fat. I would say he also gained a little under a half inch to just barely touch the 6" mark. So we will see. He is also starting to show some green. He has been black and orange since I brought him home.
 
IME oscars, even if stunted by something, may pickup growing again after theyve been in optimal conditions for a while. You can see my O in my threads recently, I've had him for about 15 mos (got him at your size) but when he was young, he took a 4month excursion to live in my sump undetected until I came home from buying some serpae tetras. Heard funny noises, checked the pump, saw him looking back at me (I tore that thing apart looking for him, I have no idea how I missed him for so long). Anyway, long story short, 4 weeks from then, he had started growing again and all of my serpaes were gone..
 
He mite have parasites, treat the water

Talk about a lucky fish! I don't mind that he is smaller, I would like a few more inches but if he stays this size it will be fine. I just figured when I got my Oscar I would have the typical experience but it has been everything but lol
