aneuysim is basically a rupture of fluid into an area. I would say its more like a sist, but regardless you wouldn't really know what is going on till you open the fish.

well unless you weren't looking at the rest of the marvellous thread, I DID OPEN UP THE FISH

Could this be the same symptom as your senegal?

Got it for $20 from lfs, eats well, poo well but it got this budge on the belly too

I posted this fish awhile ago, because I couldnt identify if this a platinium or regular...

This fish is roughly around 10" and it died after his eye got ate by a baby flowerhorn

(i squeezed it belly, its soft)

Doesn't appear to be a cyst. I didn't see any viscous purulence (puss) normally associated with such a growth. I think you're also correct on it not being a tumor. Those normally are more dense and contain vascular bundles that would bleed out during a necropsy. The symptoms and visual presention lead me to believe the sen suffered a hernia of the peritoneum (sac that holds the body cavity organs in place). A hernia would cause the intestinal tract to prolapse outside the body cavity. This leads to insufficient blood flow to the intestine and decreased peristalsis which is needed to "move things along".

I'm sorry for your loss and applaud your efforts in investigating the cause of death for the benefit of other hobbyists.

perhaps, but unless you cut the belly out i wont be able to say, maybe someone with more experience can aid here

thanks for the comments guys, it's better for me as well that i know why the sen died.

so this sac thing was pushed outside the body cavity and into the butt area?

That's my observation. It appears similar to an inguinal hernia in humans. This condition also causes injury to the area it moves to due to pressure on musculature, nerves, and circulatory vessels.

What causes that thing? :O

I have smaller senegal in my tank now, that have similar belly problem (small budge) and I am sure its not the food thats in the belly (it eats on pellets and ocasionally goldfish feeders) and if I didnt feed it for 3-4 days.. the tiny budge is still there :O

Could be caused by a foreign object (stone, bone, etc.), hereditary defect, disease/infection, and/or blunt trauma.

Could this happen over the course of 24 to 48 hours to the near point of rupturing the fish?
