Soak it in epsom salt / water mix (search the forum for the amount) before you give it!

Break pellet up if possible.

Excellent idea I'll try that tomorrow morning. I really don't want to do any kind of treatments. I was hoping this would go away naturally.

Thanks for the link! That thread is huge. I'll start researching epsom baths.

This is the part... magnesium sulphate is epsom salt! (Get the plain, non scented kind only.)

So from your observation will epsom salt soaked pellets not work?

Just bought some epsom salt this evening. Will try soaked pellets tomorrow.

So I added half a teaspoon to a water bottle which is perfectly 16.9 oz. Question is do I have to mix a new epsom salt treatment for each feeding or I can reuse?

I'm seeing the bichir more active but I feel the bump has become larger. This is day 2 of feeding soaked pellets. After it ate it was swimming quite a bit all over the tank. I noticed a problem. My firemouth cichlid is repeatedly attacking the bichir. Nips at him and the bichir flees. Ive seen this before but not this bad. The tank is 56 and I'm cycling my 125(2 weeks so far). I'm putting the firemouth for sale immediately and or I'll have to put him in the 125 alone for now. I think hes stressing thr bichir which is trying to heal. I've seen thr bichir bite back once and the firemouth didn't bother it again. But today the bichir just ran the entire time. The firemouth is about 4 inches but he's a bully.
