senegalus Tank Qs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ive got an endlicheri with senegal bichirs, they all do fine, by the way, the arowanas grow at an insane rate! mine ate up to 20 1/2'' livebearers a day when it was only 2'' long

Don't add anything else, the tank as it is is just fine.

If You really want more live in there, You can continuosly add some livebearers. That gives all Your fish some "live" action.

Remember that Your fish will grow. So don't overstock it.

See above and remember adult sizes ofsome of these fish-Anne

okay thankyou.

im hoping on getting some rarer livebearers so any excess fry can go right into that tank.

theres enough hiding places that it may become a breeding colony as well.

Ive got... ...and a load of small fish (feeders)

Well, I want a REAL predator in that tank.
the bichirs are way to lazy to go after the HRP cons and the livebearers and the ghost knife only eats some at night.

It looks like you really want some feeder death action :naughty: Here's food for thought:

You, your family, and friends all head to the local all-you-can-eat buffet. The food is so delicious that you gorge yourself in record time. You are so stuffed and can't eat another bite but you can not leave until everyone is finished. Meanwhile, the manager comes over and tells you that the chef has observed that you are not eating and he is insulted because you do not like his food...
Do you:
1. tell the manager that he is right, the food is awful.
or
2. you tell the manager that the chef has only observed your partial behavior. He didn't see you make a pig of your self with all of this delicious food, and you can not eat another bite.

What do you think your fish want to tell you when you say they are not agressive enough because they are no longer eating? Would you sit in front of a bunch of delicious food and wait for someone to watch you eat?

Don't combine it with Hepsetus! The african pike will grow faster than the senegalus, and might finally eat it.

It is very tough to combine predatory fish, who easily eat prey, that can reach half its mass. No combination with snakeheads, tigerfish, pikes....

Good luck

FOLKS HE'S WRONG!!!!!!:swear: in my tank are 6 bichirs from 7" - 11" and a african tiger pike"hepstus odus" 9", and have lived with cincta and johanna pikes, and now i have 7" malawi eye biter cichlid and they get along straight, the african tiger pike never messes with my bichirs and likewise the other way, the atp will get between 12" - 18" and will not be able to swallow a full grown bichir:headbang2

BUT DO NOT PUT AN UNDERSIZED BICHIR WITH A MANGANESE OR JAGUAR CICHLID BECAUSE HE WILL ATTACK THE BICHIR AND SPIT THE HEAD OUT, EXPERIENCE HELPS TO KNOW ANSWERS.

P.S.: 4-5" AFRICAN TIGER PIKE WILL EAT 2" PERCH!!!!
