We have a winner. That really sucks sorry to hear about your buddy.

And you thought you were going to "take the cake" with a bruise on your thumb, ABAH.

I received a serious electrical shock from a malfunctioning Marineland Stealth heater in my water change setup.

It was July 2009 and i had done about 3-4 water changes in my basement. There was a little spilled water on my concrete floor, which I was standing in. With a wet hand I gripped a metal jack post with one hand, and reached into my water change setup with the other.

I woke up on the floor about 3 feet away from the tank. I got up, was very disoriented, and stuck my hand in the tank again and received a less but still pretty painful shock. I hadn't realized at the time that I had been shocked.

The heater was replaced (under warranty from Marineland), and a GFCI outlet was promptly installed. 120 volts / 20 amps can deliver a hell of a shock.

i had a tank full of piranhas and i was doing a water change. they ate both my hands. i dont have hands anymore. i decided to eat all of them for revenge

I got ring worms rash on my skin that I had no idea about until I went to get it check out. My skin was flaking away for no reason in the duration of 1 month. Later, I knew I needed to get a medical examination. The doctor said it was either fungus or bacterial growth. I went online to research and found out it was a ring worm infections. The cream the doctor prescribed work like magic. If you spend a day working on aquariums I highly suggest taking a shower right after. Do not wait because you can get infections.

I scraped my fingers with a small hand saw while cutting up driftwoods. On another forum some dude was scoring acrylic with a knife and ended up cutting the tip of his finger. You can see pics on reefcentral.com

PLEASE PRACTICE SAFETY AND TRY NOT TO HURT YOURSELF. THIS IS A HOBBY NOT YOUR LIFE.

Err, sorry to hear about your buddy.

I had a similair experience with a major rash on the inside of my arm from doing wc's and cleaning tanks. I didn't see a doctor about it though. As It got worse after the 5th day it got really itchy where it would wake me up in the middle of the night. So I finally stopped by a pharmacy and bought some eczema cream and it eventually went away. Also yes I highly recommend washing your hands and taking a shower after cleaning your fish tanks.

Other then that no fish attacking me yet but one of my Pbass's is always hungry and thinks I'm throwing food in whenever I open the lid and working on the tank. Just waiting for him to snap at me one day.

i had back problems. worst thing i think was i was lugging water up somestairs, back gave out feel down like 4 stairs nothing to major. KIDS TAKE CARE OF YOUR BACK. i injured mine in my fresh year of highschool and itll never go away.
