wow talk about a counter-productive member, i think we finally have him talked out of an iridescent shark for a 50 so you recomend a RTC, an even bigger fish ARE YOU NUTS? RTC's can get literally the same size as a 50 gallon tank. and a pair of dovi? seriously it's a 50 gallon tank not 500. please make recomendations that fit what he has not just randomly cool fish that he can't keep at the moment, for everyones sake.

Had you actually read my post you would've seen I said a 50 gallon was a good START. Certainly a RTC or pair of Dovi would never be a fit for a 50 gallon.

i did read the post and no a 50 gallon is not a good start for those fish. why (when acura is asking for fish for a 50) would you begin to suggest fish that can't stay in a 50. he didn't say 50 grow-out or anything like that. a good START for fish that get huge would be to have monster tanks already instead of the old i'll buy this and upgrade it later. many never bother with that upgrade later. so don't defend what you said by it's a good start because for those fish, and this situation it just really isn't

I was assuming everyone had the basic knowledge that 2' fish would not adapt to a 4' tank.
I suppose all future posts I'll mention each and every aspect of fish keeping starting with cycling the tank before introducing fish.

so if that is what he has available in terms of tank space, why bother even suggest such a fish? it doesn't help anyone, especially someone who doesn't know about those fish because RTC and dovii aren't really "basic knowledge" fish

acura i don't know if this is your thing, (not really a reputation) but maybe Tetraodon suvattii, a fw puffer that tears up its food, even things like crayfish. but like i said i don't think it's what your looking for

he's alright. nice fish. you're right not quiteee there yet but he is pretty cool. So can I ask .. whats the differences between black and red pirahna? how many would I be able to keep of each? and once again I'll ask .. piranha or oscar?

Well, not oscar, as the tank is too small. I personally wouldn't do piranha either as the tank is really too small for more than a couple of them and in too small of a group, they could end up either hiding all the time, or killing each other if there aren't enough to spread out any aggression. I really don't think many piranha deserve the "bad ***" reputation they have they're really just a big tetra with a little bigger teeth that might tear up some food if they're hungry enough. Many people that buy piranha from the store I work at come back in asking what's wrong with them, asking why their piranha are sissies...

If you want predatory and aggressive fish go out and buy yourself a bigger tank. Then you will be able to look at a lot more different options.
