setting up a 125 gallon fish tank stand

Cool. Thanks so much for the help here. It's nerve racking thinking of all the weight and the over hang the tank would be sitting on but this sounds like it will work.

What are your plans for filtration?

I am using a pen play 100 gallon canister filter with biomedia in it and will install an undergravel filter as well as I heard frontosa will breed later on in life if they have an undergravel.I've never had a tank this big before.Right now they are all juveniles in a 72 gallon bow front using the same filtration.

I am putting in or hoping to put in all my fish in the 125 gallon.I have 7 frontosa,3 clown loaches,4 blue dolphins,1 yellow lab,1 peacock,1 high fin spotted pleco,4 silver dollars ( which I may not keep as they get large in size as well). They are all juveniles right now.The undergravel will be conventional with 6 vaccum tube across them.I know undergravel aren't recommended but they seem ok with one now.I am also using tan and brown colored gravel and plan to decorate the tank lightly for maximum room.

I am also aware I may need to weed out some male frontosa when their older for best results.I would also like to add a comp. And a calvus as they are neat looking fish.

Undergravel filtration, huh?

I guess you're going old school.

Post some pics when its all up and running. Good luck!

You will be fine with that setup.

As an example look at some of the plywood and press board stand most people use.

I would say that is an over built stand and will hold the weight.

Thanks.Once it's up and running I will post some pics for sure.My town lost its only good fish store last summer all that's left are two major company LFS and advice sometimes from them is very misleading.

I would suggest you use sand as a substrate and avoid an under gravel filter. They tend to trap a lot of detrius that can build up to a nitrate spike.

I would also suggest you think about adding more filtration to the tank. You could go with a bigger canister or add a HOB. AC110 is a great choice to add on.

I've used sand in the past and couldn't keep it clean and worry about the fronts digging and burying their poop which makes it so hard to keep clean.I know it is best to use sand and heard playground sand is a cheap option.I do have two marineland magnum 350 canister filters given to me as well I could always add one of those to.

If I went with sand any suggestions on help to keep it clean. It was a nightmare the last time I used it and that was with weekly vaccuming.
