Setting Up a Nano Planted?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I replaced the ladder since it's too big for the tank. I got one of those nano diffuser. I have some long tongs that I would use by just sticking them in the substrate. I just found an easier way to plant them too:irked: When you get the HC, cut the wool bottom off, but not completely. Leave maybe a 1/4" to 1/2" and cut them into small blocks. Then you can just plant them in blocks instead of random size and pieces like I did. What part of Cali are you in?

So you left the wool in the tank under the substrate?
Im in the central coast, San Luis Obispo to be exact. :D

Not me...I just found the easier way after I planted my HC, but yes, the little bit of wool would be left.

I was going to suggest Aquarium City in Canoga Park, cuz that's where I got my HC. Very good Plant people:), but that would be a long trip for you, lol!

Yes quite a long trip indeed! Do you think the wool would be a bad thing to leave behind?

I don't think it would hurt, but I'm sure the less there is, the better.

I was looking online and found this place.http://www.aquariumplants.com/Baby_Tears_Dwarf_grown_on_plantable_MAT_3_x6_p/btm1.htm They sell it for pretty cheap and have a six dollar flat rate shipping..does it look like a good place for plants? never bought plants offline, only fish.

I think the best place to buy plants for cheap is off other forum users like aquaria central, plantedtank.net and aquatic plant central. You can get ridiculous amounts for fairly cheap, plus find rare or hard to get plants.

The easiest way I have learned from other forum members is to split it into one to two centimeters sizes and plant them into the substrate with fine tweezers to insure the roots are fully submerged into the ground. Then wait for it to grow and enjoy. ;) I'm glad other members flare trying to grow this plant also because it is too, my first time with hc.

Good luck to you both, we all will need kit with hc lol, :headbang2

Go nanos :D
