This is a pic of what it looks like right now.
There is a TON of Pothos and a lot of Wandering Jew.
The rack is a basic metal wire shelving rack from Lowes or Amazon. I did put tool dip on the feet/legs to prevent/reduce rusting. Honestly I'm surprised it's lasted this long (4 years).
There are a bunch of other plants. Rabbit foot fern, Boston fern, A Chinese evergreen, a couple bromeliads and a few others... While the plant growth is a mess, the pots are strategically placed so I can water the top few and the water spills to the next level, then the next level.
I haven't been able to see in the tank for years to know what's really going on in there. It has a huge group of Key Lime Endlers, several hundred at least. I scoop them out and put them in my Cichlid tanks often.
3 or 4 years ago I added apisto cacatuoides from two sources. At least two pairs bred and I see them occasionally. They stalk & hunt baby Endlers when I feed the Endlers. I also put in a few L333 Plecos. It's a rare surprise to see one and I haven't seen one in quite a while but I suspect there's at least a couple in there. I also put a few Orange Mexican Crayfish (they stay small). I was really hoping they'd become a breeding colony but I don't see any evidence of that happening. They are also a rare sight, but I see them occasionally. Oh, and there are Green Cherry Shrimp. They've never thrived in there, but there is a small breeding colony as I haven't added any in at least two years and I see young ones on occasion.
The Pothos explodes in the water and there are tons of roots & vines & leaves throughout the water column. And climbing the walls. And boxing in the window behind it. And growing into the aquarium stand (90 gal over 75 gal) next to it. I've not tried to tame them in years and they are interesting to watch grow.
For filtration it has... a powerhead. That's it. Never a trace of Nitrate, etc.
I've had this one for 4 years and never a leak. I previously had a 300 for 7 or 8 years and never a leak. I did use the bulkhead on the 300 at one point and when I re-plugged it it dripped a tiny bit. I wrapped a bit of teflon tape on it and it stayed sealed.
I googled: rubbermiad stock tank leaking
1. bulkhead leaking...
2. Metal stock tank leaking...
3. Farm use...
4. Some wanker from Boston, who cares about Boston people's woes. (Also, bulkhead leak).
5. Farm use
6. O ring leak on an 8 year old tank
7. Unspecified... Suggested seal with JB Weld...
8. Farm use...
After that little review, I haven't lost confidence in mine. But that said, you have your liner in already and it doesn't hurt anything. If you're happy with it I'm happy for you. It's likely overkill, but I tend to be a fan of overkill.
Get some Pothos for yours. I'm convinced its one hell of a filter aide.
