I currently have 2 rays living in a 120g (4x2x2) but they have reached about 9” disk and are overdue for some more spacious accommodation. I have had these rays for just over 2 years and have really had very little problems with them, they’re both nice and fat and never stop moving despite the lack of room.

On getting the 120g it was the biggest tank I had bought and I have learnt a lot about large tank maintenance since getting it which will hopefully go into making my 330g system as easy to maintain as possible.

First step is to get the glass tank. I am going tomorrow afternoon to pick it up. Some friends have kindly offered to help with the lifting so hopefully there won’t be too many bad backs! I have worked out that the weight of the glass will be approx. 150kg (330lbs) which shouldn't be too bad between 4.

Hopefully it will arrive here safely tomorrow and the fun can begin. I’ll post up details as I sort the filtration, stand and hood, auto waterchange, 3D background etc and hopefully get some tips from those who’ve been there and learn from their experience

Can’t wait.... :D

Well I've got the tank, it's in the garage at the moment but I'll try and get some pics up later today. I would strongly recommend anyone buying a tank over 300g to go with acrylic. That thing is heavy!! The worst part is getting it through interior doors as it only just fits so it's hard to get more than one person on to lift the end. We managed it though with the help of some lifting straps and a mattress.

So next thing up is the stand....

It sounds like it has potential to be truly awesome. Looking forward to the pictures, both before and (especially) after with the rays moved in.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Tank is in the garage until I can get a stand sorted. A friend of a friend is a joiner and hopefully will be able to assist in that department.

I only have this pic of the tank taken by a friend on a phone. It's not great and only shows the tank from the end but you get the idea (btw that's me looking pleased with myself in the background :D)

On the floor on the left of the pic is a 4'x18"x15" tank that is going to be the sump, I'm planning on that plus 2 x fluidised bed filters rated at 300g each plumbed into the return feeds.

Right now I feel like there is loads to get done, but it will be worth it when it's finished. :headbang2

What are the dimensions?

Thanks Miles, tank is 7' x 30" x 30" (can't believe I forgot to add that earlier!)
